Have Charlotteans looking for jobs this season received their Christmas wish?
Governor Beverly Purdue announced today that Zenta, a knowledge and business outsourcing company, is bringing 1,000 additional jobs to the Charlotte area.
But how long will Charlotte job hunters have to wait and who is eligible?
While the Governor Purdue announced the expansion of 1,000 jobs to the Charlotte area today she points out that the growth will occur over the next five years. Right now the company-of-expansion, Zenta, has around 5,000 employees in offices around the world ranging from New York to Mumbai.
Just over a year ago in February of 2008 Zenta announced an expansion of their 80 person operation in Charlotte to add another 50 employees. According to the press release from last year this was due to an increased demand for outsourcing services for home mortgage processing and related services.
Well here they grow again. Get ready for more of a presence in Charlotte.
So what do they do and are you a good fit? Zenta is a business process outsourcing company or BPO created in 2001. A BPO is a third-party responsible for running what would otherwise be an internal system or service. Say an insurance company might outsource their claims processing program or a bank might outsource their loan processing system. Typically, companies that are looking at business process outsourcing are hoping to achieve cost savings by handing the work to a third-party that can take advantage of economies by doing the same work for many companies. Cost savings can also be achieved because labor costs are lower due to different costs of living in different countries.
The website for Zenta does say they are looking for experienced mortgage underwriters, mortgage processors and closers. They typically hire university graduates, and Zenta offers both entry level and experienced professional positions from senior managers down to account level staff.
